Eight Ways To Fate And All
With a company of five actors playing twenty roles, Eight Ways to Fate and All tells different stories about various characters impacted by illicit opioid use. This one-act play attempts to inform, open conversations and transform attitudes. Illicit opioid use affects every level of society, from the suburbs to the downtown alley to the high rise condo.
bryan wade - playwright/co-director/producer
Bryan Wade is a playwright, radio dramatist, & novelist. Stage plays have been produced in Toronto, Seattle and Chicago, radio dramas broadcast in Canada/Australia.
Recently, Chatterbox Audio Theater produced Scavenge as a podcast. He teaches in UBC’s Creative Writing. Upstart Crow Literary in New York currently represents his YA novels.
Daniel Tessy - Co-director, lighting & sound design
Daniel Tessy is a Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Composer, and Director working in Vancouver. Some previous directing credits include Submerged and What's New?, both produced in UBC's Brave New Play Rites Festival over the years. Other cool credits include lighting design for True West (Sonderhouse Productions), Frankenstein 1945 (Nebula Theatre) and The Laramie Project (Tomo Suru Productions). His sound design and composition work has been featured in plays like Hamlet (Blackspear productions), Submerged (UBC), and Icleand (Dirt Road Productions). He has received no awards due to his work being consistently ahead of its time.
scott brydle - various
After a long absence from the stage, Scott is excited to be working with some of Vancouver's greatest talents. When he's not rehearsing or performing, Scott can be found sitting in traffic, just kind of like hanging out or whatever, and forgetting to water his plants.
Jessica Quartel - Various
Recent projects for Jess include playing goth rocker Vina in Blackwell (2018, maybe?), the siren Melusine in Submerged (Brave New Play Rites), Herta Oberhauser in Frankenstein, 1945 (Nebula Company Theatre), and the pirate Lady in Gristle’s Peak (2017). When she’s not acting, Jess can be found typing things at high speeds.
KYLE john BROGAN - various
Born in the (blink and you miss it) small town of Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, Kyle embraced larger than life worlds from day one to compensate for this. Having played a variety of roles on stage and screen,some of which include Juror 7 in 12 Angry Men, The American Males in A Piece of my Heart , and even Death a handful of times, he is well equipped. Kyle feels immensely honored to be part of the Cast-cadia of this festival and can hardly contain his excitement about what we've got in store for you
Brynn La Croix - various
Brynn La Croix is a third year UBC theatre student and president of the UBC Players Club. Brynn starting classical ballet of the age of two and ever since then could not be taken off the stage. Brynn is so thrilled to be apart of the new amazing work that is Eight Ways and to be joined by an outstanding ensemble of people. When Brynn isn’t acting you can find her volunteering with her sorority sisters or working with her lovely art students.

Since graduating from the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art, Stephanie has worked in theatre, television and film. Theatre credits include Phaedra's Love (ATYP), Multiple Choice (Short & Sweet) A Broken Law (Mon Sans Productions), All Our Lesbians Are Dead (Sydney Fringe Festival). Stephanie has appeared in Australian television productions for Doctor, Doctor (Essential Media) and Rake (ABC). Stephanie will next appear in the short film Split Ends.
